After about 24 hours of traveling and one real quick lay-over in London, I made it to Nairobi! I've been traveling with the CTC Medical Team. There are about 15 people in the group and everyone is very nice and excited to help. There seems to be a common bond that we share in our desire to help the folks in Maai Mahiu.
Everything here looks so different and so beautiful! I looked out my window this morning and saw no two trees alike. And every tree had a different color bloom or a different shaped leaf. It really was beautiful.
I haven't gotten a whole lot of sleep. When I'm supposed to sleep, I'm awake. And when I'm supposed to be up and around, my eyes are heavy and itchy. I may be a little sleep deprived and not able to make a whole lot of sense.
Later today, we will be traveling to the village where I will be living at for the next 2 months. I'm excited to meet all of my colleagues and future friends in Maai Mahiu.
Until next time!
PS - I met this silly girl that's on the Medical team, she eats candy allllll the time. :0 six bags a day. It's amazing.
Hi Joel!! So thankful you made it to Kenya safely but I'm shocked you haven't seen Zane yet! Guess he's back at the home place waiting for you to arrive. Is the silly girl that high school girl I met at the airport! She was pretty silly. I hope you get your sleep schedule working soon. It's always difficult at first. I've been thinking about you everyday wondering what you're experiencing. Thanks for writing the blog. It helps a lot! Love you so much!! Give Zaner a big bear hug from Mama Zane. :) All my love, Mama
